Um, it's not an issue unless people or the one's involved make it an issue. If you have been dating someone for about 6 months, this will even start to make sense.

Did I mention that they will never let you pay for dinner? You may be sent on a hardship tour to Korea and not be able to bring your spouse with, or you may be stationed an hour from home.
